The Jumilla Wine Challenge (El Certamen de Calidad Vinos Jumilla PDO) was created in 1994 in order to incentivise the wineries to bottle their high-quality wines.
Almost the whole of the appellation’s wineries currently take part in this challenge. Over a period of two days of blind tastings, the wine samples presented in each of its eight categories undergo examination by a panel of experts from the specialised press sector, winemaker associations, as well as from the different public administrations with which the appellation is linked. This process gives the Wine Challenge its particular identity, since the judges on the panel are a faithful reflection of market demand for quality wines.
